A Discord alternative with end-to-end encryption and no ID checks

Valour works the way Discord does: servers with channels, roles, voice and video. We call them planets. The difference is what Valour leaves out. Your messages are encrypted before they leave your device, nobody asks for your ID, and there are no ads.

Discord details as of September 2026. Discord's age checks depend on your country and account.

Before you move

Valour is younger and smaller than Discord. A few things work differently:

  • Messages and members do not import. The importer recreates your channels, categories, roles and permissions, and your members join again with an invite link.
  • Discord bots do not run on Valour. Bots are built with Valour's .NET SDK, and incoming webhooks work from any tool that can send a web request.
  • Apps are available for the web, Windows, macOS and Linux, and for Android on Google Play. There is no iOS app yet, but the web app works on iPhone and iPad.
  • Uploaded files and images are not end-to-end encrypted. Message text and embeds are.

Move your server

  1. In Discord, open Server Settings, then Server Template, and create a template. If you already have one, choose Sync so it matches your server.
  2. Copy the template link. It looks like discord.new/abc123.
  3. In Valour, choose Create a planet, then Import your server, and paste the link.
  4. Share an invite link with your members. They can sign in with their Discord account.

Why we don't ask for ID

Collecting government IDs and face scans creates a store of personal data that can leak, and it shuts out people who can't or won't hand it over. Valour asks for a birth date and nothing more. When Texas pushed apps toward age and identity checks, we paused sign-ups there rather than build an identity checkpoint. Read why we paused Texas sign-ups.

Questions

Is Valour free?

Yes. Everything on this page is free. Optional Stargazer subscriptions cost $4.99, $9.99 or $14.99 a month and add larger uploads and profile extras. They pay for the servers, since Valour has no ads.

Do I need to verify my age or identity?

No. You enter your birth date when you sign up, and you must be at least 13. Valour never asks for a government ID, a face scan or a phone number. Sign-ups from Texas are paused, because Texas is pushing apps toward identity checks and we would rather not build one.

Can I import my Discord server?

Yes. Paste a Discord server template link when you create a planet, and Valour recreates its channels, categories, roles and permissions. Messages and members are not copied.

Can I sign in with my Discord account?

Yes. You can sign up and sign in with Discord or Google, or use an email address and password.

Are my messages private?

Messages in direct chats, group chats and planet channels are encrypted on your devices before they are sent, so Valour stores text it cannot read. Threads and wiki pages are public on purpose, and uploaded files are not end-to-end encrypted.

Can my Discord bots come with me?

Not directly. Valour bots are written with the Valour .NET SDK, and incoming webhooks let other tools post into your channels.
